During Blue Star Welcome Week and all year round, we'd like to give you and your family a sense of belonging.

We'd like to welcome you home!
Why Blue Star Welcome Week?
Discover the meaning behind Blue Star Welcome Week. This campaign takes place each year during the last week of September. During this week, communities help military families feel more welcome.
And wow, did our support community show up in 2022! With your participation, we added virtual programming, more than doubled the number of local events, and received messages of support from across the country. We at Blue Star Families could not be more thankful!
As the countdown begins for Blue Star Welcome Week 2023, we hope you feel as motivated as we do to continue the momentum. Let's keep connecting with our neighbors. We can attend events, volunteer, or offer everyday gestures of kindness. Find more ideas here! By doing so, we cultivate inclusive communities where all families feel a sense of belonging.

A special message for Veterans and their families from Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough
"Blue Star Welcome Week will feel like a big family reunion—something I always loved as a child. Enjoy learning more about your community and fostering connections with those in your neighborhood. Thanks BSF!"

“Blue Star Welcome Week is a great opportunity to reach out to new military families in your community and help them feel at home at their new duty location."
Alexandra G., Senior Military Spouse
“One of my favorite military traditions is a ‘Hail and Farewell’ when members and families gather to welcome newcomers and to say thank you to those departing. Such gestures mean the world to military families. Constant change can be a challenge, but when our sacrifices and contributions are recognized it can make it all worth it. To those military communities who welcome us into your lives, your neighborhoods, your friend groups . . . THANK YOU!"
Mollie R., Senior Military Spouse
“I just wanted to tell you and your wonderful staff, volunteers, and supporters a BIG THANK YOU! It was a blessing to see our 12 yr old & 16 yr old hang out just playing together. Your group gave our family a brief break to enjoy the outdoors without the stress of preparing. The kayaking tour was informative and relaxing. Thank you again for caring for our family and the military community."
Xay D.
“I have been SO encouraged by all the amazing women today! As an AD member AND military spouse (and mom of 5), sometimes it feels like we have to choose! I’m reminded today that I don’t need to choose. Both roles are part of my life experience and are what I can bring to influence the world around me!"
